The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea published the 70 Stories of Elections that Made Korea, which summarizes election history in Korea from the first democratic election held on May 10, 1948 to the 7th nationwide simultaneous local elections in celebration of the 70th anniversary of democratic elections in Korea.

The 70 Stories of Elections that Made Korea is a three-part series, with illustrations, photographs, and charts that make it easy and fun to understand important events and the development process of elections.

The main parts are as follows:

Part 1 - Seventy Years of Elections: This part contains 33 historic moments during elections that have taken place since the May 10 general election in 1948 to the 19th presidential election caused by a vacancy in the office of the president.

Part 2 - A Fair and Just Election System: In this part, it is possible to examine the history of the election system and the election management body, including the Lower House Election Act of 1958 which later became the Public Official Election Act as we know it and enacted the deposit system to prevent reckless candidates, the 1960 absentee voting system and the creation of the National Election Commission, an independent constitutional institution, in 1963.

Part 3 – A Beautiful Election Culture: This part includes stories on activities to prevent and crack down on election law violations and PR activities by the NEC including when the NEC started to crackdown on election law violations during parliamentary re-elections in 1989 in Donghae-si and Yeongdeungpyo-gu and when the system allowing fines and rewards of up to 50 times the value of any gifts was introduced in 2004 in order to end money-based elections.

70 Stories of Elections that Made Korea was written by a ten-member working group consisting of former and incumbent staff from the election commissions and was edited by experts from the fields of elections, Korean history and education. It will be distributed to relevant organizations such as the National Assembly, the National Library of Korea, universities, student organizations and political parties.

An official from the NEC announced that "the 70 Stories of Elections that Made Korea is expected to be a useful reference that reflects the significance and importance of elections and further promotes the development of Korean elections and democracy."
