The NEC is committed to encouraging more people to make small donations. In particular, the NEC emphasizes that such a contribution enables people to get tax deduction in the year-end tax adjustment, while helping raise political funds in a more fair and transparent way.
The NEC called attention to an easy way of making donations such as using credit cards or the accumulated points of various credit cards including Shinhan, BC, KB, and KEB cards. Especially, the NEC and Lotte Card signed an agreement in August to facilitate the contributions, enabling the card users to make contributions on Lotte Card points at its website, www.lottecard.co.kr.
Also, those who want to make donations/contributions to the Political Fundraising Associations (PFA) for National Assembly members or to election commissions (ECs) can do it online at www.give.go.kr, which has been run by the NEC.
The NEC said that those who gave political funds to ECs or the PFA can receive tax deduction of 100,000won at the maximum amount, and income deduction for the amount exceeding 100,000won, in the year-end tax adjustment.
As an easy way to make contributions is available, the NEC expects that more political funds are raised by a large number of small contributions.
