The National Election Commission(NEC) announced that the by-election of the second half of this year (scheduled on October 27, 2010) will take place in six electoral districts. The list is as follows;

<Electoral Districts>

· Head of local government (2):

- Uiryeong-Gun, Gyeongsangnam-Do; and

- Seo-Gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City

· Local council members (4):

- The Second Electoral District, Geochang-Gun, Gyeongsangnam-Do;

- Na & Ra Electoral Districts, Sasang-Gu, Busan Metropolitan City; and

- Ga Electoral District, Gokseong-Gun, Jeollanam-Do

- Application for absentee voting(October 8~12)

- The Candidate registration period(October 12~13)

- Election campaign (October 14~26)

- The Election Day(October 27)

※ Polling Hours - From 6 am to 8 pm (two hours longer than the election upon the expiration of term)

The NEC declared that it will strengthen its investigatory activities throughout the by-election period and take stern measures against any election irregularities.
