Date :01/08/2013Read : 402

The NEC of Korea announced the ship-board voting result in the 18th presidential election, that was held for the first time in the nation''s election history. Among 7,057 registered voters(or 1,080 vessels), 6,617(or 1,016 vessels) crew finally cast their ballots with a voter turnout of up to 93.8 percent.

Along with participation of observers, crew did exercise their right to vote in each polling station set up onto their ships. Each ballot paper first had been faxed to competent Si/Do Election Commissions. They received such ballot papers through a so-called ''Shield Fax''equipment specifically designed to seal each vote. Ballot papers gathered there are also sent to each competent Gu/Si/Gun EC as a next step and they are all counted at the same time when other absentee votes are totalled.
