Delivery of Contributions for the 4th quarter of 2012 to four Political Parties

The National Election Commission (NEC) delivered a political fund of 9 billion won, which citizens had contributed to election commissions from October to December 2012, to four political parties on January 14, 2013.

Unlike the money contributed to the political fundraising association, contributions are regarded as the political funds that people donate their money to ECs directly with a view to supporting political parties. The NEC distributes it over to each political party every quarter based on the facts as follows: whether or not a party could form a negotiating group in the National Assembly, how many seats they hold and the ratio of total number of votes obtained in the general election for lawmakers.

If individuals want to make contributions, they can visit the website of the political contribution center (www.give.go.kr); visit election commissions in person; or reward points of credit cards are also available to donate.

Contributions to the ECs should be made at a minimum of 10,000 won or more at a time, but should not exceed 100 million won in a year or 5 percent of the total income of the previous year.
