The National Election Commission announced on October 13 that it has been entrusted with the election of National Federation of Fisheries Cooperative’s (hereafter referred to as Suhyup) chairman for the first time. It was made possible after the revision was made to the Fisheries Cooperative Law, which requires Suhyup to entrust the election of its chairman to the NEC.

Since 2005, the NEC has managed 2,110 entrusted elections, including the elections of heads of local Agricultural/Fisheries/Livestock Cooperatives, National University Presidents, among others. The increasing number of entrusted elections shows that NEC’s expertise and fairness in election management is widely acknowledged.

The NEC will continue to carry out overseeing and control activities to manage entrusted elections in a fair manner. It will ensure clean and fair elections at every level.
