The NEC has announced an official turnout analysis of the 5th Nationwide Local Elections which were held on the last June 2nd. According to the result of turnout analysis based on the age, gender and region differences, the turnout of young voters under age 30 was generally increased and that of middle aged and elderly group (over 40 years old) was declined comparing with the result of the 4th Nationwide Local Elections. The turnout survey was conducted among 4,033,027 voters (10.4% out of the entire voters) residing in the 1,407 electoral districts out of the 13,388 districts in the nationwide. In this survey, the average error between actual turnout (54.5%) and sample turnout (54.9%) is +0.4%. ¨ Turnout by gender According to the result of the turnout, the percentage of turnout by gender is as follows: male (55.1%) vs. female (54.7%). In spite of the higher percentage of female components in the total number of voters, the actual number of male voters casting their ballots in the election is higher than that of female voters. ¨ Turnout by age According to the result of the turnout, the percentage of turnout by age is as follows:
Like the turnout of the table above, voter''''s turnout is increasing especially from the late 20s and the turnout of voters at the age 19 appeared higher than that of 20s and early 30s. In addition, it''''s analyzed that the cause of higher turnout of early 20s than late 20s is the absentee voting of military personnel. . ¨ Turnout by region According to the result of the turnout, the percentage of turnout by region is as follows: township (66.5%), town (60.6%), small and medium sized cities (54.2%), the metropolis of The turnout of overseas citizens registered in the domestic residence reporters list is 11.8%(male 13.2% and female 10.8%) and turnout of eligible foreign voters is 35.2%(male 28.5% and female 40.4%).
