New Year''s Message from Chairperson Kim, Nung-hwan Chairperson of National Election Commission My fellow citizens! A new year, the year of snake, has come. May your life be improved and the nation be advanced, filled with New Year''s lively energy. My dear people! Recently, the 18th president has been elected by direct vote of the people. The election was managed by legal process and method while people actively participated in voting. We were able to present to the world a true picture of a democratic election where the elected candidate showed her generosity while those who have lost the election accepted the result of the election. I hope it will serve as a momentum to further develop the nation. My fellow citizens! The National Election Commission will continuously manage elections fairly while remaining impartial. Meanwhile, we will make an utmost effort to improve the electoral system focusing on regulations to encourage voters'' participation. We will also actively consider your feedback on the areas that needed improving during the last election. In addition, we will enable those not able to vote on Election Day due to their work hour constraints to cast their votes by perfectly establishing the integrated electoral register that will be introduced for the first time in absentee voting this year. Once again, I wish you a good health and happiness in 2013 . Thank you. |
