| Training course for election officials of overseas voting |

The Korean Civic Education Institute for Democracy(KOCEI), attached to the National Election Commission(NEC), offered a three-weeks training course in February 2011 for 55 election officials to ensure successful management of overseas voting which will be held for the first time in the 2012 National Assembly and Presidential elections. 55 election officials, selected from NEC staff, will be in charge of preparation and management of overseas voting at 55 overseas missions of the countries where a large number of overseas Koreans reside. The training course focused on effective management methods of overseas voting and improvement of language skill. More detailed contents of the training are as follows ○ Practical strategy in managing overseas voting, including the procedural administration of legal affairs, election guidance and public relations. ○ Application of election laws relevant to overseas voting ○ Implementation of overseas voting information system ○ Participants, grouped by the region of their host countries, discussed and made presentation of overseas voting management plan ○ Language improvement class to effectively develop a substantive cooperative relationships with the counterparts in their host countries |
