Public Contest for 19th Presidential Election Beautiful Elections Promotion Project

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea will be undertaking a public contest for a Beautiful Election Promotion Project to create a beautiful election atmosphere for the 19th Presidential Election.

This project aims to spread a new election culture, dubbed beautiful election and will be holding a public contest for organizations such as citizen, social, media, religious, humanities, culture and arts group as well as academia to participate.

The contest has three fields:

• Creating an election atmosphere realizing the core values of beautiful elections which are ''participation'', ''hope'', ''fairness'' and ''unity.'' 

• Cultivating the democratic citizen consciousness of voters.

• Other ways to realize ‘beautiful election’ project.

The total budget of the contest is around 120 million won (approx. $120,000 USD) and the NEC will support selected organizations up to 10 million won per project, with a maximum of two projects per group being supported.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, February 8 and you can fill out an application form and send it by post, visit the office or send it by e-mail. However, organizations that are banned from conducting election campaigns in their name or the representative of the organization is forbidden from election campaigning according to the Public Official Election Act will not be selected to undertake any project. The NEC announced that they hope for great participation from a variety of organizations that are interested in undertaking various projects such as talk concerts, book concerts, performances, photo exhibitions and musical performances.
