Party Policy Forum Held on ‘The 20th National Assembly’s Plan for State Affairs’ = Listen to the parties! Plans on foreign affairs, security (including deployment of THAAD) and prosecution reforms =
The National Election Broadcasting Debate Commission (NEBDC) hosted the first party policy forum on The 20th National Assembly’s Plan for State Affairs on Tuesday September 6 from 10am to midday in a KBS studio.
This forum was moderated by reporter Kim Jin-seok and participants were Secretary of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee Kim Jin-tae from the Saenuri Party, Secretary of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee Park Beom-gyae from the Minjoo Party of Korea, Floor Spokesperson Lee Yong-ho from the People’s Party and Director of the Justice Party National Defense Committee Kim Jong-dae from. Each party participated in heated debate on topics of foreign affairs and security (including deployment of THAAD) and prosecution reform plans.
In order to make the forum more dynamic, the forum adopted procedures that allowed participants to speak freely without time restriction by question or topic as long as they spoke within an aggregate amount of time allotted to each participant for the entire forum.
This debate was broadcast live nationwide on public channels Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) and Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and programs with captions and sign language are available for people with hearing impairment. The NEBDC hopes that this first party policy since the 20th National Assembly began its term will be an opportunity for the public see where each political parties stands regarding the issues that the Korean people has shown high interest in.
