Public Hearing Held on How to Improve Election Surveys 

= Takes place Friday May 27 at the National Assembly with a wide range of experts participating =

The National Election Commission (NEC) of the Republic of Korea hosted a Public Hearing on How to Improve Election Surveys at the National Assembly on Friday May 27, and election survey experts participated including representatives from each party, members of the press and polling organizations. 

During this public hearing, the participants diagnosed the challenges in election surveys during the 20th National Assembly election and sought alternatives through presentations by various experts and in-depth discussions. 

The participants included Professor Sohn Byoung Kwon from the Department of International Relations at Chung-Ang University and Director of the Institute of International Studies as moderator, National Election Survey Deliberation Commission (NESDC) Director General Yoon Jae-hyeon as a presenter, and seven debaters including National Assembly members, representatives from media organizations, and polling organizations. 

The NEC set the direction to improve the election survey system based on the various opinions and suggested improvements heard at the conference, and after the hearing the NEC expects to revise the relevant law going forward.
