Political Contributions Made Easy Through Smartphones = Mobile Political Contributions Center Equipped with Easy Payment Methods Launched = The National Election Commission of the Republic of Korea (NEC) is launching a mobile political contribution center (www.give.go.kr/m/) to allow anybody to easily donate various political funds at anytime. The mobile political contribution center is divided into six menus, including political contributions introduction, a page where enables to make a political contribution, contribution statement viewing and Political Fundraising Association (PFA) introduction. Political contributions have been made simpler by introducing new ways to pay through quick online transaction services such as Kakao Pay, Payco and Paynow as well as continuing to take contributions through existing methods such as by debit/credit card. The NEC is expecting citizens to make political donations more actively thanks to donations being allowed through Kakao Pay, as domestic users who installed one of the most popular applications, Kakao Talk will be able to make political contributions easily through their smartphones. In addition, it will now be possible to make political donations using any credit card and through credit card points. Political contributions can be deposited to the NEC, who will then financially support political parties, or can be directly to associations that support candidates. Also, the NEC can take political contributions that support all parties from civil servants and teachers who are not allowed to become members of a particular party. A political contributions culture where ordinary citizens can participate by making a large amount of small contributions helps to reduce political funding fraud and leads to a clean political environment. Not only this, but the NEC is requesting the participation of citizens in making a large amount of small contributions as political contribution is a system that encourages politicians to actively work for the public.
