The Election Advisory Committee Meeting for the 20th National Assembly Elections Convenes

= Discussions held on issues such as plans to increase voter participation and improve trust in elections =

The National Election Commission (NEC) announced the holding of the Election Advisory Committee meeting at the Seoul Plaza Hotel on November 6 for the successful management of the 20th National Assembly Elections. 

The Election Advisory Committee is an organization created to advise on matters such as the fair management of elections and the advancement of the election system. It consists of 26 experts from sectors of society including the media, academia, the legal profession, public relations and civil society. 

Chairperson of the NEC Lee In-bok will preside over the meeting and during it there will be presentations on 2015 Business Overview and Implementation Status by Jeong Jeong-sik, Chief Planning and Coordination Officer of the NEC, and Election Management Plans for the 20th National Assembly Elections by Yoon Seok-geun, Chief Election Officer of the NEC. The Advisory Committee will then discuss the major issues for the elections. 

The Discussions will include three main topics: 1) Plans to increase voter participation 2) Plans for increasing civic education for democracy 3) Plans to improve trust in the elections.

The NEC expects the results of the meeting of the Election Advisory Committee to be fruitful as a meaningful starting point for the successful management of the National Assembly elections, and plans to reflect the opinions that come out of the meeting in the management of the elections and in the election system
