The National Election Commission of the Republic of Korea (NEC) is supporting the online voting system (K-Voting) for the elections for heads of Korean Paralympic Committee (KPC)-affiliated organizations that take place between late September and early November.

These elections, in which each affiliated organization elects three chairpersons, each for sportspersons, coaches and umpires, are being held in order to select an electoral college for the election in early 2017 for KPC President.

It is expected that 10,000 voters from 20 out of the 31 affiliated organizations will use the online voting system and voting will take place on the day that each organization has designated.

Proxy or double voting will be prevented at the origin as voters access via a distinct URL given to each voter through their smartphone, phone or PC and entering personal information to check identity.

Given that the NEC is supporting online voting in KPC elections for the first time, it will strive to provide a service in a smooth fashion during the election procedures.

Meanwhile, the online voting system developed by the NEC has been used in 1,053 elections by over a million people since it began to be used in October 2013 as of August 2016, and it has recorded an average turnout of 58.2%.

This online voting system has been actively used in entrusted elections such as those for associations and organizations and has the advantages such as making voter participation convenient, reducing election management costs and reducing distrust in the election result. In recent years, the scope of the system has expanded to include making decisions on policies and gathering opinions to solve social conflict.

The NEC requested public organizations, schools and private organizations use online voting which is convenient, accurate and safe in the case of electing representatives or gathering opinions for decision making.

You can use the online voting system developed by the NEC by filling out the application form for use on the homepage (www.kvoting.go.kr) and, after visiting the closest election commission office and being accepted, paying a small charge to use the system.
