Date :04/20/2012Read : 370

The National Election Commission announced that all the ballots of overseas voting for the 19th National Assembly elections have been returned to Korea safely: overseas voters have cast their ballots from March 28 to April 2 at 158 polling stations in 107 countries in the world. The ballots from abroad have been sent to Gu/Si/Gun election commissions from the Incheon International Airport after being checked sealing conditions with the attendance of observers from political parties and related organizations.

The ballots of overseas voting will be transferred to counting places after 6:00 PM on election day and be counted with domestic ballots.

The NEC said that it has managed the overseas voting successfully using advanced IT technologies: including establishing the management system of overseas voting; developing and using the ballot issuing machine; and operating the monitoring system for returning ballots of overseas voting.

The NEC announced that it will do its utmost efforts to improve the systems based on the management experiences of the National Assembly elections, so the overseas voters can participate in the coming presidential election in a more convenient way.
