Ms Lee Jung-Hee’s Resignation as the Unified Progressive Party’s Presidential Candidate Accepted

Date :12/20/2012Read : 325

The National Election Commission accepted Ms Lee Jung-Hee’s resignation as the Presidential Candidate No. 3 on December 17. She was registered as the Unified Progressive party’s candidate for the 18th Presidential Election.

As a result, 6 candidates will run for the upcoming Presidential Election. The NEC has issued guidance to each Si/Do and Gu/Si/Gun Election Commission to manage administrative duties regarding the resignation without error.

The election commissions will put up notices of resignation in prominent locations within every polling station on Election Day to prevent confusion among voters.

According to the NEC, all the ballots have already been printed, which include the number, political party and name of the candidate who resigned. It should therefore be noted that in case anyone votes for the candidate number 3 on Election Day, those votes will be regarded as invalid.
