| Order numbers on ballot papers have been determined |

As the registration of candidates for the 19th National Assembly elections was closed on March 23, the National Election Commission and the election commissions in each electoral district determined the order numbers to be printed on ballot papers for proportional representation election and local district elections. According to the NEC, the order numbers of the 20 political parties that will take part in the election for proportional representatives of the 19th National Assembly are as follows: Number 1: Saenuri, Number 2: Democratic United, Number 3: Liberty Forward, Number 4: United Progressive, Number 5: Creative Korea, Number 6: Korea Vision Party, Number 7: Let’s Go-Grand National Center, Number 8: Pro-Park Coalition, Number 9: People’s Happiness, Number 10: Christian Liberal Democratic, Number 11: Green Party, Number 12: Great Korea, Number 13: Future Union, Number 14: Buddhist Noble Path and Harmony, Number 15: Real Democratic, Number 16: New Progressive, Number 17: Korean Youth, Number 18: Korean Christian, Number 19: Korean Culture and Arts, Number 20: Hannara In accordance with the Public Official Election Act, Article 150, the order numbers of the parties that recommend candidates for proportional representation election are given, depending on the number of seats in the current National Assembly as of the deadline for registration of candidates. The parties without a seat in the National Assembly will be given numbers in Korean alphabetical order of their names. Regarding the order numbers of candidates to be printed on ballot papers for local district elections, the candidates recommended by the parties with a seat in the National Assembly will be the first to get numbers, followed by the candidates recommended by the parties without a seat in the National Assembly and the independent candidates. The order numbers will be determined among the candidates recommended by the parties with a seat in the National Assembly, depending on the number of their seats. The candidates recommended by the parties without a seat in the National Assembly, on the other hand, will get numbers in Korean alphabetical order of their names. Finally, the election commissions in the districts concerned will determine by lot the order numbers of independent candidates. The parties with more than 5 local district members in the National Assembly as well as the parties that gained more than three-hundredths of the total valid votes nationwide in the previous presidential election, the election for proportional representatives of the National Assembly or the election for proportional representatives of the local councils will be given unique numbers nationwide. Accordingly, Saenuri Party has received the number 1, Democratic United Party the number 2, Liberty Forward Party the number 3, United Progressive Party the number 4 and Creative Korea Party the number 5. In the districts where the parties given the unique numbers have not recommended any candidate, the relevant numbers will not be printed on ballot papers. The order numbers of the parties printed on the ballot papers, therefore, may not be the same for proportional representation election and district elections. White-colored ballot papers will be used in district elections while yellowish green-colored ones will be used in proportional representation election. |
