Election Information on Smart Phones

Date :06/28/2011Read : 419

The NEC said that its mobile website embedded in QR code will be available to keep pace with widespread use of smart phone, starting from June 23. The NEC is the first to incorporate QR code among the constitutional agencies of Korea.

The NEC’s QR code is designed to increase visibility and recognition by using its slogan ‘election, the flower of democracy’, and the shape of ballot box.

The QR code will work in sync with the NEC’s mobile web(m.nec.go.kr), providing various information such as election schedule, election-related legislation, political party and political fund, and overseas voting. The development of its mobile web has been completed, and will be accessible from June 23, in a standard format recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

The QR code will be used in the e-election information, webzine, leaflet, and name cards of NEC’s officials. The NEC plans to continuously improve the QR service to the public to make various information concerned about elections more easily and conveniently available.
