89 TV/Radio Speeches by Presidential Candidates to Be Broadcast

The National Election Commission has finalized the schedule of TV/Radio speeches to be given by the 18th Presidential election candidates on November 30.

 

According to the NEC that has received the applications submitted by each candidate, Geun-hye Park, the Saenuri Party’s candidate and Jae-in Moon, the Democratic United Party’s candidate have registered for 44 speeches each, the maximum number permitted by the law. Jung-hee Lee, the Unified Progressive candidate has registered for 1 speech while the rest of candidates have not submitted an application.

 

The NEC had to arrange the schedule in random drawings according to the relevant regulation as some of the times the candidates have requested overlap.

 

With the 18th Presidential election ahead, the campaign speechmakers appointed by the candidates as well as the candidates are due to make 89 speeches in total including 44 TV speeches and 45 Radio speeches.

 

In accordance with Article 71 of the Public Official Election Act, a candidate and a campaign speechmaker appointed by the candidate shall make a speech at a time that lasts less than 20 minutes and 11 TV & Radio speeches each.

 

Meanwhile, 5 candidates made 101 TV/Radio speeches in total prior to the 17th Presidential election.
