NEC, Hold MoU Signing Ceremony to attract the A-WEB secretariat

= NEC, signed MoU with Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Free Economic Zone =

The National Election Commission concluded an MoU with Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Free Economic Zone(IFEZ) at Convensia located in Songdo International City on May 7: the NEC, City of Incheon and IFEZ agreed to work together for the establishment of the Association of World Election Bodies and for situating its secretariat in Songdo International City (I-Tower).

This agreement was made as a follow-up of the third Working Group Meeting for the A-WEB held in Jeju last March. At that time, the working group agreed to the seat of the secretariat of the A-WEB in Korea. After that, the NEC has progressed to establish the secretariat in Songdo, Incheon.

The NEC said that Songdo International City has an easy access to Incheon International Airport and particularly, I-Tower has a great environment of performing international works.

At the MoU Signing Ceremony, Secretary General of the NEC, Mr. Moon Sang-Boo, Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, Mr. Song Young-Gil and Commissioner of IFEZ, Mr. Lee Jong-Cheol presented.

The NEC, Incheon City and IFEZ agreed to make strenuous efforts to realize the following understandings:

- Successful host of Global Electoral Organization Conference and Inaugural Assembly of the A-WEB which will be held in October, this year;

- Locating the secretariat of the A-WEB in Songdo; and

- Cooperation for mutual development
