The NEC Participates in A-WEB’s Executive Board Meeting

The Chairperson Lee In-Bok and Secretary General Kim Yong-Hi participated in the 3rd Executive Board Meeting of A-WEB held in Bucharest, Romania on March 25th, in the capacity of Chairperson and Secretary General of A-WEB respectively.

 

The main agenda discussed at the Meeting included a statement of accounts for 2014, budget and project plans for 2015, a report on newly submitted membership requests, the revision of the A-WEB Charter and 2015 General Assembly-related topics.

 

There were robust discussions especially over the main projects for 2015 which will be projects to support the EMBs of developing nations to strengthen their capability and improve election laws, the annual A-WEB Forum, the set-up of A-WEB regional offices and capacity-building programs for electoral officials of EMBs.

 

The Chairperson from the Republic of Korea, Vice-Chairperson from Dominican Republic, Executive Board members from India, Romania, the Republic of South Africa and Canada, and Oversight and Audit Committee members from Kenya and Bosnia Herzegovina participated in the Executive Board Meeting.

 

Led by the NEC, A-WEB was established in October, 2013 with 97 organizations from 94 countries to promote the development of democracy and election systems around the globe and its secretariat is based in Incheon, Korea.
