| “New-leaders’ Camp” for University Students |

The Korean Civic Education Institute for Democracy (KOCEI) under the National Election Commission of Korea (NEC) hosted “New-leaders’ Camp” for university students. The camp was held to enhance discussion culture and political participation of university students. The KOCEI opened the camp at Sockrisan Youth Town from February 4 to February 5. This camp was conducted as a follow-up program of “Political Camp for Future Leaders” for high school student leaders, in which the participants have taken part in when they were high school students. During the “New-leaders’ Camp”, the university students participate in discussion on increasing voter turnout, civic awareness enhancement program by reinterpreting political culture through mass cinema and special lecture on youths’ challenging. The camp includes participants’ opinions from the stage of composing curriculum and enhances participants’ active involvement to increase the effect of the program. The “New-leaders’ Camp” aims to increase youths’ awareness of the significance of political participation by running continuous educational program for youths. |
