The National Election Commission of Korea (NEC) provided the National Subsidy for the third quarter to the political parties on August 13, 2010. The total amount for the third quarter was around 8.1 billion won and the national subsidy given for the third quarter of 2010 to the each political party is as follow:

○ Result of the Distributed Subsidy for the Third Quarter of 2010

- Total (100%): 8,116,700,000 won (about $6,800,000)

- Grand National Party (40.02%): 3,248,398,940 won (about $2,700,000)

- Democratic Party (33.65%): 2,731,324,190 won (about $2,300,000)

- Liberty Forward Party (6.79%): 551,419,120 won (about $460,000)

- Future Hope Alliance (6.71%): 544,700,420 won (about $460,000)

- Democratic Labor Party (5.96%): 484,088,520 won (about $410,000)

- Creative Korea Party (2.43%): 193,604,430 won (about $160,000)

- People First Union (0.05%): 4,030,550 won (about $3,400)

- People''s Participation Party (2.00%): 162,334,000 won (about $137,000)

○ How to Distribute the National Subsidy

- 50% of the total amount is distributed equally to political parties holding more than 20 seats and forming negotiation body in the National Assembly

- Political parties holding more than five seats but less than 20 seats are respectively entitled to get 5% of the total amount

- Political parties holding less than five seats and meeting certain conditions under the law regarding political parties respectively receive 2% of the subsidy

- After distributing subsidies according to the above standards, the half of the remaining will be offered to parties holding more than one seat considering the individual parties’ proportion of seats in the National Assembly

- The other half of the remaining will be provided to the parties holding more than one seat based on the vote share in the latest election for the National Assembly
