| Results of Candidate Registration for the By-election in the First Half of 2010 |

The NEC has published the candidate registration results for the by-election in the first half of 2010. In the by-elections, eight vacant seats in the National Assembly will be filled up. The NEC posted information such as candidates’ political party, occupation, education backgrounds, etc. with the elective list. The average competition rate is 3.6:1 from eight constituencies which is the results of candidate registration operating between 13th and 14th July. In particular, the competition rates are varied in each constituency: 7:1 in Seoul Eunpyeong-gu, 4:1 in Incheon Gyeyang-gu Eul, 2:1 Gwangju Nam-gu, 3:1 Gangwon Wonju-si and 3:1 in Chungnam Cheonan-si Eul. The publically allowed election campaigns are able to run for 13 days from 15th to 27th July. Election posters of candidates will be pasted up by 19th July and campaign bulletins and election guidance will be sent to each household by 23th July. The NEC posted main platforms of candidates on the notice board, Political Party and Pledges Information System, in its homepage to encourage voters’ interests in platforms to lead this by-election as the pledge-oriented election. In addition, the NEC published personal information on each candidate such as property, military service, tax payment, crime record, occupation, education backgrounds, work experience, etc. by the Election Day which is July 28, 2010. |
