The National Election Broadcasting Debate Commission opened the 7^th University Student Discussion Contest at Soongsil University, Seoul on July 22, with the subject of ‘Bring changes to the National Assembly election system’.

The discussion contest is the largest in scale to date with the participation of 298 students of 149 teams from 45 universities nationwide. Two participants made up a team and the teams decided whether to argue for or against the given subject. There were preliminary sessions to determine the teams to move to the next round. In that round, 32 teams were selected, and they again will contest in a tournament round to go to the final round.

The 32 teams will contest at Dongeui University, Busan on August 17~18. The 1st place winner will be given a cash prize worth 3million won, and the 2^nd winner 2million won.

The Contest is sponsored by KBS, MBC, SBS, EBS, the Korea Cable Television & Telecommunications Association, Busan MBC, Soongsil University, and Dongeui University.
