| 5,487 Electors for the 2nd Mock Overseas Voting are Confirmed |

The National Election Commission announced a confirmed list of registered voters who will participate in the 2nd mock overseas voting, scheduled for June 30. The mock overseas voting is conducted as a preparation for the overseas voting, scheduled for the 19th National Assembly election in 2012. The number of registered voters is 5,487, consist of 4,711 overseas absentees and 776 overseas voters. To make up the list, overseas absentees and overseas voters applied for registration during a week, starting from May 27. The list then was confirmed after going though two days of compilation, public inspection, and receiving and reviewing of complaints. Schedule for the 2nd overseas mock voting is as follows. • Gu/Si/Gun Election Commissions send out ballot papers, leaflet containing information about overseas voting, and stamped addressed envelopes to overseas voters via • Post information about political parties and candidates standing in the mock overseas voting on the websites of NEC and embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions until June 25 • Hold overseas voting at 158 overseas embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions, at 10 a.m.~5p.m. local time on June 30. • 251 Gu/Si/Gun Election Commissions count ballots on July 8 The NEC has run a special 24hr Situation Room for this mock overseas voting. It said that there had been many difficulties such as the holidays and time difference amongst countries, and difficulty of making international calls due to the absence of exclusive line to contact the overseas missions. In addition, the difficulties have been compounded by unexpected events including military operations of NATO in The NEC plans to devise solutions by analysing any problems found in the process of conducting mock overseas voting. It will also consider operating a Risk Management Team to swiftly deal with any unexpected emergencies. It reconfirms its commitment to crafting fair and efficient management plans for the National Assembly elections next year by taking every necessary measure. |
