The NEC hosted a meeting to pursue policy-oriented campaigns for the 19th National Assembly elections on March 12 with attendance of representatives from political parties on the beneficiaries list of national subsidy. The chairperson of the NEC (Hon. Justice Nung-Hwan KIM) and the representatives of 6 political parties reached an agreement on holding sound and fair elections through policy competition; and they signed the below written agreement and assured the Korean people that they would make all-out efforts to lead the elections to contribute to the national integration and development. <Written Agreement on Policy-Oriented Campaigns> l We will take every effort to create a sound atmosphere for elections, as observing the law, competing through policies, and preventing vote-buying and libel and malicious propaganda. l We will pursue policy-oriented campaigns, as presenting viable policies and pledges encompassing a national vision. l We take a pledge that we will do our best to put the policies and pledges into action and unveil the process of delivering them to the public. The chairperson stressed out that the pursue of policy-oriented campaigns will serve as a momentum for achieving national integration and development, giving hope and trust to the people, and contributing to the development of democracy; as he said that it not only means that candidates compete through policies and pledges, but also that candidates present feasible policies and pledges and deliver them in a right way.
