The NEC has assisted internal party competitions by managing voting and counting process. The Grand National Party (GNP) hosted its internal party competition to elect the party leader and four representatives at Jamsil Gymnasium on July 14, 2010. The NEC carried out voting and counting process of the competition according to GNP’s request.

The internal party competition of the GNP was decided based on the results of party members’ voting and public opinion poll. The NEC provided e-voting service which is a touch screen system, composed of voter identification terminal, touch screen voting machine, ballot counting system and ballot verification system, to publish the final result within a limited time. The voting and counting were completed within 70 minutes due to the e-voting service.

Mr. Ahn, Sang-su was elected as the leader of the GNP and the whole process of internal party competition was aired through Internet broadcasting. Party members gave favourable comments regarding the fast and accurate results. The Democratic Party’s internal party competition is scheduled in coming August.
