| Guideline for the Election of Superintendent of Education |

The National Election Commission of Korea(NEC) has notified the guidelines as to the「Local Government Education Act」regarding political neutrality of the election of Superintendent of Education(hereinafter "the election") which is held simultaneously with the 5th Nationwide Local Elections. The Constitution of the Republic of Korea and the law stipulates the independence and political neutrality of education and the announcement of NEC was for that. The prohibited activities are as follows: Political Parties ㆍnot allowed to nominate candidates for the election ㆍexecutives of political parties are not allowed to support or oppose of certain candidates and their platforms ㆍprohibited from any involvements in the election Candidates ㆍnot allowed to indicate their opinions about support or oppose of certain party''s platforms and party candidates ㆍnot allowed to announce of their party membership experiences The NEC informed those standards to political parties, candidates for the Superintendent of Education other related persons as special precautions to prevent related violations. In addition, the NEC makes public the plans to monitor and supervise the parties and candidates'' activities thoroughly and impose strict punishment on related law violations. |
